伊朗警告联合国安理会五个常任理事国说，无论面临多大的压力，伊朗都不会放
弃核项目。伊朗外交部发言人阿赛菲说，星期二与五个常任理事国以及德国的会
议对其他与会者来说比对伊朗更为重要。他说，先前向伊朗施压的任何企图都没
有能够让伊朗放弃核活动。
安理会常任理事国星期二在莫斯科举行会议。安理会还将在下周举行全体会议，
听取国际原子能机构就伊朗核项目问题提交的报告。美国总统布什星期二在华盛
顿再次强调，针对伊朗问题，不排除任何选择，但是他还是希望以外交手段解决
问题。

Iran: Pressure Will Not Make it Abandon Nuclear Program

Iran has warned permanent United Nations Security Council members that
no amount of pressure will make it abandon its nuclear program.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi says today's (Tuesday's)
meeting of the five permanent Council members plus Germany is of more
importance to the participants than to Iran. He says previous attempts
to pressure Iran have failed to persuade it to stop nuclear activities.

Today's talks in Moscow among the Council members come a week before
the full Security Council is to hear a report on Iran from the
International Atomic Energy Agency.  In Washington, President Bush
today reiterated that all options remain on the table with regard to
Iran, but that he wants to resolve the issue diplomatically.

Israel Holds Hamas-Led Palestinian Authority Responsible for Bombing

Israel says it holds the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority responsible
for Monday's suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. But sources say Acting Prime
Minister Ehud Olmert has decided not to authorize military action
against the Palestinian government at this time.  Participants at a
meeting of Israel's security cabinet say Israel's response will focus
on the northern West Bank and will target members of the militant
group Islamic Jihad, which claimed responsibility for Monday's attack.

Hamas has defended the bombing, which killed nine people outside a
fast food restaurant. Hamas calls it self-defense against Israeli
crackdowns in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army and witnesses say Israeli troops have arrested 40
terror suspects in the northern West Bank in the past day. Witnesses
near (the city of) Jenin say one of the detainees is the father of
the suicide bomber.
